today I'm going to show you my favorite
pics for treating acne right here at the
drugstore so let's go
there are few things you're going to
want to avoid if you have acne-prone or
oily skin avoid products that contain
petrolatum
mineral oil or all oils in general these
serve to clog the pores and over time it
can cause acne you're going to want to
look for a cleanser that contains
salicylic acid an example of this is
Neutrogena
pore refining daily cleanser and if you
have oily or acne-prone skin you want to
look for a more of a liquid cleanser
that foams as opposed to a creamier
cleanser so this is an example of a
cleanser that contains both both alpha
and beta hydroxy acid one of my favorite
treatments for acne and or oily skin and
large pores is the Garnier line
particularly the Garnier blackhead
eliminating scrub what this does is it
exfoliates using microbeads as it
delivers salicylic acid which also
exfoliates the skin and actually gets
into the bores to reduce the appearance
of oil so it's very effective for
reducing oily skin as well as for
targeting the appearance of acne
a lot of times people do get inflamed by
benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid but
they still need treatment for their acne
my favorite ingredient for this is
sulfur and it's hard to find but if you
look you can find products that contain
sulfur and this is a sulfur mask that
you could leave on overnight and I
promise you by the morning your acne
will be improved look for a moisturizer
that does not contain petrolatum or any
form of oil and look for a product that
actually says non-athlete genic or non
comedogenic on the package itself one of
my favourite brands to recommend for my
patients is CeraVe therapy is a very
bland moisturizer that will not break
out my acne patients and so it makes for
a great go-to for a bland moisturizer
that will keep your skin hydrated but
you don't have to worry about clogged
pores
